What To Expect Here in 2026

After taking some time with family to relax and decompress following an action-packed 2025 for me and this site, I am ready to face a new set of challenges this year. I wanted to take a little time now to talk through some of what I’m hoping to see and do here over the coming year.

Subscribe to the Website: You can get articles sent right to your email when they’re published. Some weeks I publish 2-3 times, other times it’s 1-2 weeks between posts.

Join the Conversation in The New Orleans Forum: The forum is the place where urbanism events and other types of advocacy get planned, and it’s also the “comments section” for the website. You can sign up by creating an account of signing in with a Google account.

Meeting You

I am going to be planning a social urbanism meetup in the next couple of months. If this is something you’d be interested in attending, I’d love to hear from you. I want to get to know people in the city who are interested in making our suburbs a better place to be and to live, and if you’re here, that might just be you.

Creating Partnerships

I’d love to continue making new connections with organizations or individuals in Orléans and other suburbs of Ottawa that have an interest in urbanism or adjacent areas. If you want to work together, let me know.

Supporting Urbanism

I want to highlight new developments and engagement opportunities to help people show up to support projects that will help to make our city a better place to live. There’s plenty of negativity about changes that are and will be coming to our neighbourhoods, I’d like to contribute positively on these great projects, and you should too!

I will also be aiming to engage the media in interviews more on new developments or urbanism topics when it comes up, and delegating at city council in support of better urbanism in our communities.

Guest Posts

Over the last month, I’ve had a few guest posts submitted to the website, and working with others in the community has been such a great experience. If you want to write up an article in support of making our community a better place to live, I would love to work with you to publish it here (with your name attached or not, up to you).

You can also submit your story ideas to [email protected] or on social media, there’s plenty going on and Orléans is a big place.

Events

I am planning a few different kinds of community events over the coming year. In addition to the meetup(s) I mentioned above, I would love to run a ‘Walkshop‘ and am ruminating on a concept for a family-friendly community info night partnering with my community association. I am also planning to do a second season of Pedal and Play starting this spring, see the link for what to expect there.

The Peoples’ Report

A longer term project I’m working on in between more pressing and short-term projects is what I’m calling ‘The New Orleans – Peoples’ Report‘. Right now this document is very much in draft form, but I’m hoping to make time this year to publish an initial version of it so I can start iterating on it in public. This is intended to be a comprehensive overview of urbanism projects in Orléans, from advocacy projects to safe street designs to ways to reduce our reliance on driving. If you have a potential project you’d like to contribute, or if you’d like to help with this report, please get in touch.

2025 was an incredible year to get involved in the urbanism advocacy game in Ottawa, and I am really looking forward to doing more in this space in 2026.
